Open Question: Forex daytrading?????

Hi I have been trading stocks for 4 years now with alot of success. I use technical analysis and sometimes fundemental. Anyway recently i got into the forex market. Im only doing a virtual account now because i like to look before i jump. However i noticed that i can make 10 - 20 dollars off a simple $125 margin investment pretty easily within mintutes. but when i hold on to it and dont pay attention i lose money ususally. Right now im working min wage 7 dollars an hour WORKING difficult! so im like damn maybe i should do this as a job? do i have to have the min 25,000 though for daytrading laws like in stocks? or is forex different?? Seriously this stuff is pretty easy like is goes up 10 pips then goes down 10 pips or 5 or 6 but if i can make 10 bucks a trade thats much much bette than my job! and seeing how i can do this with as little as 500 in my account its pretty interesting to me

Open Question: Foreign Exchange - How do you lose money?

Before I start exchanging currencies, I need to learn as much as possible including the basics of forex. The only thing that I need to know is how can you lose with foreign exchange. Since it's not like shares where its possible to lose if its value drops, with foreign exchange, you can buy or sell whenever you like even if it means in 10 years time. I understand that if you have leverage from brokers, you lose out with the interest rates of borrowing the money to buy/sell. ***But say if I don't borrow any money from brokers and use my possess capital that i'm willing to use, then there is no interest rates since i haven't borrowed money and therefore does it mean that I can never lose out? I'll simply just sell when the rates are high...*** Thanks for any contributors. I really want to learn about these things :)

Im new to forex nice of ive been playing around with a virtual account i think i have a good idea of what it does.. ive traded stocks and futures for 4 years now so im not new to trading. But i dont want to jump in with alot of money so im gonna open an account with etoro with $50... i want to take risk and make good profits .. im 90% sure as you every are probably the Eur/USD is gonna go up next week.. if i use 400:1 leverage and use 25$ in one trade and it goes from 1.36 to 1.37 how much money would i make?? btw my stradegy is simple use cease loss orders and take profit orders .. just like in stocks that way i can limit my loses and lock in profits..

Open Question: What are your thoughts on the CFTC proposal, calling for a 1:10 leverage cap on Forex trading?

The current limit is 1:400. I think most people know what they're getting into when take on such a high leverage. With a 1:400 leverage one loses every his money if the investment goes down 0.25%, but the money doubles if it goes up 0.25%, and triples if it goes up 0.5%. It's common sense that this is risky, and anyone stupid enough to invest every their money in such an obviously risky investment, deserves to lose it every. I find it condescending that the CFTC thinks we don't understand something that a 4th grader could understand. Such a high leverage should be an option in case someone wants to invest a tiny percentage of their portfolio with a high leverage. If someone is very skilled at Forex it ought to be their right to look just how high of returns they can receive, by trying out higher leverages for some of their portfolio. What are your thoughts?

Im not new to trading im a trend follower/ band trader i mostly use technical analysis but i trade stocks. Recently a few days ago i said wth why not try forex because i was reading about Randy Mckay who turned 2000 into 70000 in just 7 months! WOW. Before i start trading for real though i want to know alot more about this business. Is babypips.com a good site to do schooling on??? Any recommended books to read?? im just 19 years old ive been trading since 9th grade.. not with real money though but i figure forex and technical analysis work in the same way so if i can make money in stocks why not curriences? plus i receive waaaayyyy more leverage and profits. Seriously i wouldnt put every my money into this but its a good way to diversify. I plan to start this year trading with 4000 dollars i will put 3000 into stocks and maybe 1000 into curriences using etoro.. but this is just a plan for now i dont plan on starting till the end of this year so this gives me this year to learn as much as possible and paper trade.. or i was thinking of just opening an etoro account with 100 bucks and look what i can make happen cuz the eur/usd is seriously gonna go up its a no brainer

Open Question: g and selling currencies how can i profit from buying from different bureaus with different rates in the same.?

in my contry, one forex bureau buys US $ at 2042 Shillings and sells it at 2052 shillings. the other bureau buys the dollar at 2036 shillings and sells it at 2048. can i possibly take advantage of these differences in exchange rates to make a profit by may be buying from the cheap bureau and seling to the one which buys at a higher rate?. please explain to me how i can really make it work for me.

Resolved Question: Best way to invest $5000?

I know nothing about the market. I have heard though that in today's econmoy cd's aren't worth it. I can lock it up for maybe 3-5 years, and while I don't want a huge risk, I know without any risk, there won't be much of a return, which is why I want to tug it out of my savings account where it is just sitting there. If you have advice, please give me examples to break it down. for instance "if you invest $5000 in 4 or 5 years it will have grown to $7000" I need number amounts to understand because I dont understand the 1.99 or 2.32 examples.
